Clonduff youngsters AGAIN clinch SEVEN COUNTY TITLES and will represent Down in the Ulsters coming up in February – Clodagh Kelly (U12S), Ellen Shields (13S), Éveagh Kelly/Ellen McKay (U13D), Patrick Cowan (U14S), Paudie Clancy (U15S), Lauren Kane (U15S), Conor Milligan (U17S) – Great achievement! Patrick Cowan narrowly defeated in Ulster Final; Clodagh Kelly also reached Ulster Final

Cultural and Social

  • Clonduff Young Pool Players Conor Milligan and John Boden selected for Northern Ireland Youth team following trials in Coleraine in mid January
  • Katie McGilligan & Beth Fitzpatrick complete ‘Future Female Leaders’ Programme (joint programme with Ulster LGFA, Ulster Camogie, Ulster Handball & IFA) in Tollymore Outdoor Activity Centre
  • Two South Down titles and two runners up places for Clonduff competitors in Scór Sinsir – Ballad Group (Paul Kelly, Colleen Walls, Agnes Morris, Caroline Carvill, Martina Cunningham) and Solo Singer Vivienne Murphy pick up respective titles; Mary Catherine Murray RU in Solo Singing; Eileen McCusker RU in Recitation – all represent Club in County Finals – Clonduff also picked up the Peter Keenan Trophy for Best South Down Scór Sinsir Club for the third year in a row.
  • The Ballad Group and Vivienne picked up their respective County titles: Ballad Group won the Ulster and All Ireland titles (first senior title in 40 years, first at any level since 1993)
  • Clonduff selected to complete Phase 2 of GAA Healthy Club Initiative under guidance of Club’s Health & Wellness Officer Attracta Brown
  • Sarah Bloomfield picks up Irish News Young Volunteer of the Year
  • Clonduff GAA Club and Hilltown Community Association in conjunction with Hilltown Community Safety Partnership host a very successful Halloween Festival for the second year in a row
  • Clonduff GAA Club and Hilltown Community Association jointly organise and host village Christmas Lights switch on and visit of Santa

  • Darren O’Hagan to Captain Down Seniors in 2017 – Brother Barry and

  • Stephen McConville plays pivotal role on St Mary’s winning Sigerson Cup team
  • Clonduff Referee Ciarán Branagan takes charge of last ever U21 Football final (Dublin vGalway) in Tullamore Co Offaly 29th April 2017
  • Darren wins Irish News Ulster All Star Award at left corner back
  • U16 Boys win All County League and reach All County Championship Final for first time since 1994
  • Minor Boys reach All County League and Championship Finals – first championship final appearance since 1995
  • U10 Achievements: Kingdom Indoor tournament Cup winners, Drumgath Tournament Cup Winners, Warrenpoint Tournament Cup Winners, Rostrevor Tournament Cup Winners, Clonduff Tournament Plate Winners, Kilcoo Tournament Shield Runners up, Bryansford Tournament Plate Winners, Moy Tournament Plate Winners, Mayobridge Tournament Plate Runners up, Ballymartin Floodlit Tournament Cup Winners
  • U8 Able to field 3 teams, Gaels, Ógs and Yellas. Won our own Brian McGreevy tournament and were runners up in Burren, Rostrevor and Dungannon Clarkes tournaments. Attended many other tournaments sometime two on same day. Special mention to Ógs team performance in Shamrocks Tournament and Gaels team who beat Mayobridge (their Nemisis this year!) in their last game of the season
  • U6 – Big turnout at training every Sunday morning; participated in our own Ella Trainor, Warrenpoint and Saval blitzes; also had matches against Burren (x3) and Rostrevor.

LGFA

  • Clonduff Coaching Officer Ryan McShane appointed joint manager of Senior team; Niall Rafferty with Minors, Kieran Kelly with U13s
  • U16 Girls runners up in both League and Championship
  • Clonduff host Ulster U10 Development Blitz on Saturday 30th October – 12 teams from five counties

Hurling

Seniors into Junior County Final – beat Castlewellan in Semi Final – play Ballela in Final – Part one ends in draw! Part 2 (Replay) Ballela won by 2 points.

Camogie

  • Seniors beat Ballygalget 2-8 to 0-9 to win County Final – go straight into Ulster Final at end of October which they lost by 2 points
  • Jenna Boden awarded Gaelic Life Ulster All Star – 3 other players nominated – Paula Gribben, Fionnuala & Sara Louise Carr
  • U12s win Final Div 1 Camogie Blitz (11 teams) of year in Clonduff Park
  • U14s runners up in both league and championship
  • U16s win championship by single point with last gasp goal v An Riocht; runners up in League
  • Katie McGilligan (Minor), Paula O’Hagan (Gribben) Down Camogie Players of the Year at Annual Co Awards; Clonduff Club of the Year

Schools & Universities

  • Stephen McConville key player on St Mary’s University College Belfast Seigerson Cup winning team (previously won in 1989 with Cathal Murray) defeated holders UCD
  • Clare McGilligan and Cassie Fitzpatrick on UUJ team that won Purcell Shield beating Trinity College Dublin in Final
  • Cathal Murray managed St Colman’s into Mac Rory Cup Final with Lyndon Brown, Ross Carr and Ben McConville on the team.
  • Clara Cowan (Our Lady’s GS Newry) and Beth Fitzpatrick (St Mark’s Warrenpoint) awarded Colleges All Stars in Camogie – received April 2018
