What an evening we had in Clonduff Club on Saturday night (11th January 2024) celebrating our culture and community! It was essentially an end of season THANK YOU for Clonduff participants in Scór 2024 with the ‘Wee Set Dancers’ who are County Champions who reached the Ulster Final as Guests of honour!
Fear an Tí for the evening was Francis Quinn who himself is a Scór Sinsir participant and a former All Ireland winner, Kayleigh McPolin got proceedings under way with Amhrán na bhFiann accompanied four young budding singers!
After the hot buffet, Joe Farrell got the floor filled with dancers of all ages and abilities – this happened several times throughout the evening! Our singers, reciters and dancers provided the entertainment; Paul Kelly, another All Ireland winner performed his brother’s song about going to Hilltown Saleyard!
Many thanks to our newly formed Culture Club (Francis and Joe along with Lisa and Nicola included) for organising the night, Shereen for the photos and videos, Jayme and Jackie for all their help on the night, those who served the food and refreshments; official young volunteers Cadhla and Aodhan (Aodhan also gave a wonderful demonstration of Irish Dancing), assisted by numerous other young volunteers including Emily and Caolan; the U16 boys for setting up on Friday night, and to those who helped clean up at the end of the night.
A big thank you to Matt McGinn for the great sound system and especially to the entertainers and supporters who made it such a successful event! Their main words on the way out ‘when is the next one’?
