Dr McKenna Cup – Round 1 – 2020 – Fermanagh 0-7 Down 1-11
A famous Clonduff and Down name made his debut in Senior County Colours on Sunday 29th December 2019 – Ross Carr but this was the mk II version – Ross Junior. He was a substitute in the last 20 minutes of the game v Fermanagh in Brewster Park and he scored a great point from the half-back position.
Ross became the 3rd Clonduff player in that game – Darren O’Hagan continues to captain the side while his younger brother Barry appeared in the first half as a ‘Blood Sub’ and then he too played in the final quarter of the game.
The Universities have withdrawn from the Dr McKenna Cup in 2020 so there are three Groups of 3 teams with the group winners and the top 2nd placed team (across the three groups) progressing to the semi finals. Down have a bye in Round 2, and will return to action on Wednesday 8th January for Dr McKenna Cup – Round 3 when they play Antrim @ 8pm in Pairc Esler.
