SAN FRANCISCO FEILE TEAM 2022 IN CLONDUFF PARK

The San Fran Lads with National Feile Chair Diarmuid Cahill

We were delighted to welcome San Francisco GAA U15 Football Feile Team to Clonduff Park for a mini blitz ahead of their National Feile Campaign. Feile is on 2nd July but San Fran arrived in Ireland on 21st June to get some practice in before the event. These lads haven’t played any competitive games since pre-pandemic.

We have a long-standing link to San Francisco GAA with many family links down through the years and they certainly haven’t forgotten their roots. Always on hand for support and generosity whenever needed.

One of those strong links has been with Clonduff Hall of Fame 2004 recipient – Sean Spiers. It has been 70 years since Sean helped our senior football team win a championship – his grandson Martin Spiers was among those who graced the turf in Clonduff Park.

Eamonn and Mairtín McCusker

One of the San Francisco GAA U15 Managers is our own former dual player Eamonn McCusker, and his son Mairtín, following in his dad’s footsteps also graced Clonduff Park.

Many thanks to neighbouring clubs Mayobridge and Burren who also took part in the blitz.
The National Chair of Feile, Diarmuid Cahill (from An Riocht) paid a visit to Clonduff Park to meet and greet the Feile team from San Francisco. Diarmuid met with the team and their mentors – Eamon McCusker (Clonduff), Mick Cunningham (Co Roscommon) and Pat Connolly(Co Leitrim)
The boys went on to reach their Divisional final only to be beaten by Raheem (Kildare) in extra time.
