Over 40 Clonduff youngsters (U16) took part in the first rounds of Scór na nÓg 2018 held over the weekend of 10th-12th November 2017 in Burren Social Club, Glasdrumman AOH Hall and St Patrick’s Primary School Hilltown. Clonduff had participants in all three venues but the big majority of them were in St Pat’s. The Instrumental Music Group, Ballad Group and two Set Dancing teams qualified directly for South Down Final with quite a few others progressing to the Qualifying Round on 17th November in Mayobridge Community Centre. Competition, as in the first rounds, was very tight for the two remaining places in each discipline and there was little to choose between the top competitors and those not qualifying can count themselves unlucky!
Aoife Trainor and Grace Clancy took the two places in Solo Singing; Sinead McPolin took one of the places in Recitation/Storytelling. They will join our winners from the first rounds in the South Down Final in St Mark’s Warrenpoint on Sunday @ 4pm. Clonduff will be very well represented by the two Solo Singers, Recitation, Ballad Group, Instrumental Music and two Set Dancing Teams. Plunkett McConville will be Fear an Ti and Mary Catherine Murray will sing Amhrán na bhFiann. Our Culture is in good health in the Clonduff GAA Club!
