The rain did not dampen spirits on Saturday 21st August in Clonduff Park for the annual Sean Cairns Hurling Coaching Day.
A big thank you to Chrissy McKaigue of Derry and Slaughtneil for coaching the various age groups throughout the day.
A superb hurler, Chrissy has led Slaughtneil to 3 Ulster Senior Club Hurling Championships in recent years alongside 3 Ulster Senior Club Football titles.
Chrissy is also known as vital player for Derry Senior footballers and previously managed a dual career at Club and County level by representing Derry hurlers.
Thankfully the rain subsided just as the first session with the U7 and U9 youngsters began and stayed away for the next session with the U11 and U13 boys (The U15 boys were away at Co Feile). The juvenile sessions ended with Chrissy signing Hurls and Sliotars for the kids.
After a hasty lunch it was an intense session with the Senior Hurlers despite the rain having reappeared.
A Great day had by all
