The Annual Sean Cairns Memorial Training Day took place in Clonduff Park on Saturday 17th August with Tipperary Great, Eoin Kelly as the Guest Coach.
Players and members flocked to our pitch throughout the day to meet the two-time All-Ireland winner and Tipperary Captain.
The day kicked off at 11.30am with the younger players U6-U10 and thankfully the earlier rain passed on; then it was the turn of the U12/14 lads to bring us up to lunchtime.
Following the lunch break it was the turn of U16/Minor lads followed by the Senior team.
Eoin imparted his knowledge and skills of our ancient game. This was a fantastic opportunity for our players to learn from one of the great players of his generation.
Eoin created a wonderful atmosphere and was amazed at some of the skills demonstrated by the younger boys particularly when a 10 year old put the ball over the bar from way out on the sideline! He had lots of time for personal photographs, signing shirts, helmets and Sliotair and seemed to enjoy the occasion as much as the players did and wouldn’t mind returning!
The Cairns Family – Goretta, Noleen and Shane made a presentation to Eoin of a club jersey and other personal gifts.
A big thank you to Goretta, Noleen, Shane and the Cairns family for allowing our Club to host this wonderful day.
