SFL CLONDUFF 2-12 BURREN 2-11
This was Clonduff’s first home league game of the year and what a game! Not only were the two points at stake for the 2021 League but it also doubled as the postponed 2020 Final. It was a good tight game of football with no quarter given or asked. Burren took the initiative and got the first score of the game but Clonduff replied with 2 in a cagey opening. Burren then struck for goal and Clonduff replied with a point. Burren kept their noses in front but then scored another goal to which Clonduff replied in kind to level the score at 2-4 apiece; Burren got the last two scores of the half to leave it Clonduff 2-4 Burren 2-6.
The teams swapped scores a couple of times before Burren moved into a 4-point lead and it looked like they were in the ascendancy. However, The Yellas had different ideas! They played their best football of the evening in the final 15 minutes and drew level late in the game. Burren got the next one to move back into the lead. Ross had a great point to level it again and Clonduff gathered from the kickout and found Tom Close who slotted over the winning point.
This was a tremendous performance from the lads to bring the first league title to Clonduff since 2000!
A large crowd stayed around for the presentation which was made by Co Board member PJ Quinn to team captain Darren O’Hagan.
