Two of Clonduff’s young footballers were on the Southern Regional College (formerly Newry Institute of Further and Higher Education or ‘Newry Tech’) teams that participated in the Ulster blitz held in the Mid Ulster Sports Arena, Cookstown on Wednesday 14th October. Niall McPolin (U16/Minor) played for A team and Gary Maginn (Minor/U20) played for the B team. It was a great competition and both lads played all matches – the two Southern Regional College (SRC) teams met in the semi final with the B team just being beaten by the A team. The A team on which Niall (extreme left back row above) was playing went on to win the final against Letterkenny Institute and were crowned Ulster Further Education Champions.
Well done Niall and Gary and to the team manager Mark Copeland who is a mentor with Clonduff Minors! This is the second year in a row that Mark, who is Gaelic Games Co-ordinator in SRC, has led his charges to the title.
