ST MARK’S ARE U14 CHAMPIONS 2023

Well done to St Mark’s Year 10 Boys (U14) who became Ulster Champions for the first time in their history – on winning the Loch an Iúir Cup Final on Tuesday 5th December 2023 in Pearce Óg Club Armagh. They defeated Dean Maguire, Carrickmore after extra time. There was little between the teams who went in at the break all square 0-5 to 1-2. The game continued in the same manner in the second half with St Mark’s eventually moving into a 3 point lead only to be pegged back by a very late goal from the Tyrone side to take the game to extra time. Score St Mark’s 1-8 Carrickmore 2-5. The Warrenpoint lads had moved into a 2 point lead at half time in extra time and added 2 more in the second period but for Carrickmore to bounce reight back with another goal deep into added time. The lads in purple though hung on to their one- point lead and their little bit of history!

As a result of this win the Warrenpoint lads will be competing in the highest level for this age grade next year against the likes of St Colman’s and Abbey CBS in the Corn na nÓg Competition.

The St Mark’s team was backboned by Clonduff players – no less than six on the starting team and another on the panel. And the Captain was also Clonduff lad Luca McLogan.
