Pairc Esler on Saturday 14th June 2008 was the setting for Down’s defeat of Tyrone in the Championship Quarter Final Replay.
Ross Carr is the manager and his son Aidan who was in the running for ‘Man of the Match’ (one newspaper gave him the award having scored 4 points – a fifty, two frees and one from play) with a sterling performance in the half back line.
NB – Tyrone went on to win the All Ireland through the Back Door in 2008
