Twelve U6 teams plus four U5 teams participated in sun-bathed Clonduff Park on Saturday morning 11th August. There was as always a wonderful atmosphere among the participants and their parents and mentors with each team getting six games. There were no losers of any game – every child was a winner on the day and received the specially commissioned commemorative medal – the first for many of the children!
Many thanks to all those who took part – teams from Burren (2), Cumann Pheadar Naofa, Mayobridge (2), Rostrevor, Glenn, St John Bosco and new comers this year Saval and Kilcoo who joined the two Clonduff teams in marking Ella’s Birthday. Special word of thank to officials from Clonduff and Cumann Pheadar Naofa with special shout out to the Young Clonduff Referees – Charlie McConville, Aoife Trainor, Una Fearon and Lauren Kane – Aoife, Ella’s big sister had got the proceedings underway with Amhran na bhFiann. Special word to official photographer on the day Ella’s cousin Katie McGivern – her first time behind the lens of a ‘real’ camera – didn’t she do a great job. She was ably assisted by Rosie McCann; Eveagh Kelly assisted Anita in the administration side of things as official time-keeper on the day.
The family sent special thanks to Kieran Kelly who organises the blitz each year; Cunningham Butchers Kilkee, O’Hare’s Bakery Warrenpoint, Savage & Whitten Cash & Carry Newry for supplying the food; Goretta & Noleen in the Club Shop; their many friends and family members for their support and assistance and to anyone else that helped in any way.
