U11s WIN SOUTH DOWN LEAGUE

Clonduff U11 Footballers ended their season with games on successive days requiring a point to win the League. On Saturday 28th November they travelled to Ballyholland and after a hard-fought game emerged winners 1-9 to 0-7. Safe in the knowledge that they had secured the League, they finished with a surprisingly easy victory over Mayobridge 6-17 to 0-1, on Sunday 29th November. This final game meant they had won nine out of their ten games. The quality of football these young lads played was fantastic given the time of the year and ground conditions. Well done boys and your mentors too – P J McGreevy, Patrick McConville and Brendan McGarry!
The boys received their medals in Clonduff Club on Friday 11th December. Tommy Kelly (South Down Board) presented the cup and Aidan Carr (Clonduff, Down and Ulster) presented the medals. The children and their parents were treated to a refreshments in the clubrooms and they received their ‘Player of the Year’ awards which were as follows: Joint Winners Lorcan McAteer and Ryan McGreevy, Runners up: Colm Fearon and Brendan O’Hagan.
