U7.5 FESTIVAL OF FOOTBALL 2023 IN MEMORY OF BRIAN McGREEVY

All the participating teams had their photos taken with the silverware that had been awarded in previous years

22 mini teams (U7.5 x 7-a-side) from 10 different clubs converged on sun-bathed Clonduff Park on Saturday 10th June to remember former Clonduff captain Brian McGreevy. The games were refereed by Clonduff Senior/County Player Eamon Brown, and Youth Players  U15 – Luca McLogan, Eddie Clancy, Lorcan Matthews, Thomas Kenny; U17 – Sean McGreevy, Ryan Tweedy and U19 player Callum Donnan (has embarked on full referee training); the games all started and ended on a central hooter.

The pitches were the preserve of players, mentors and officials and the children really seemed to enjoy themselves. There was not a cup, shield or medal presented – the youngsters all received a burger and a drink following the group games. The lunch was followed by the ‘Finale’ games in which teams were matched by another of similar ability – all teams got to play in the Finale Games.

The McGreevy Family presented every participant with a healthy ‘Goodie Bag’. The Brian McGreevy Cup and Shields were on display and the teams were given the opportunity to have their photos taken with the Family Silverware and they enjoyed this very much indeed.

The McGreevy Family and Clonduff GAA Club wish to thank sincerely all those who participated in the blitz which has been running continuously since 2005.
