Clonduff U8 Footballers kicked off their season with the An Riocht Tournament on Saturday 11th April. Twenty-six teams from Down Antrim, Tyrone and Armagh took part. The teams were split into five groups with each 11-a-side team playing four 8 min games. 25 children represented Clonduff in two teams (grateful to An Riocht for allowing us to enter two teams). There was great football played by both teams at such an early stage in the season. The teams played in the knock-out stages of the shield with the ‘B’ team being eliminated by Newry Shamrocks in the early stage. The ‘A’ team, however, progressed to the final of the Shield competition where they were narrowly defeated by St Peter’s Lurgan in the final. A great entertaining day’s football was had by all.
