Played in atrocious conditions in Milltown Playing Fields v Cumann Pheadar Naofa on Sunday 23rd October, the Warrenpoint side had 4 points on the board before Clonduff registered their first score close to half time. Following the break with the elements at their back Clonduff clawed their way back into the game and when Ella-Beth’s free dropped in over the heads of a crowded goalmouth Clonduff were actually in front for the first time. CPN never gave up and won a close in free which was duly converted to level the game and take it to extra time.
Clonduff’s fitness was the telling factor in this period – they scored 3 points in the first half of the extra time and a further 2 in the second period to set up a final appearance v Castlewellan next weekend.
Both teams deserve a lot of credit for the way with which they coped with the elements and the conditions – it was debatable whether the pitch was actually playable but with hindsight this was the correct decision and what is a wee bit of muck when you win your Semi Final!
Final Score – Warrenpoint 0-6 Clonduff 1-8
